Dryers Jacked from Apartment Complexes
Summerville sees increase in coin-operated dryers being stolen; charges pending on suspects.

Summerville Police Department reports at least four incidents of stolen coin-operated dryers in the last month.
Individuals involved in the heists have been identified and are currently incarcerated under other charges, according to police Public Information Officer Capt. Jon Rogers. He added that charges are pending in these incidents, but that it was unknown when those would be filed.
at Water's Edge Apartments, Water's Edge Apartments, and all reported stolen dryers.

The Sept. 17 incident report from Midland Terrace approximated a week's worth of coins in each dryer could be around $65. Reports vary on cost of the machines, from $400-$1,000 each.
According to Rogers, it was the light nature of the machines and the coins that likely attracted the criminals.

"They're most likely stealing the coin. It's just easier to take the whole thing," Rogers said. "Gives you time to break the whole machine."
