The school opened its doors for students in August 2011 and is the district’s twelfth elementary school. Principal Wanda Carroll Williams and Assistant Principal Tamara Diebold lead a student body of approximately 750 students.
The Dorchester School District Two Board of Trustees named the school in honor of Superintendent Joe Pye who has served as district superintendent for more than twelve years.
Joe Pye, veteran educator of more than 40 years, recently had the additional honor of being named South Carolina Superintendent of the Year.

A reception and tour of the new facilities will follow the dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting. The public is invited to attend.
