Over 300 residents have signed up to tackle 28 projects on April 21, 2012 in a volunteerism effort of unprecedented scope in Summerville. Summerville Mayor, Bill Collins, will set the stage for the Summerville Cares Day of Service by issuing a proclamation during a brief ceremony that will include the other founding partners of this ambitious community-wide program of service.
Projects range from installing a roof and stabilizing a pond bank at Eagle Harbor Boys Ranch to painting facilities and re-landscaping Francis Willis SPCA. Food drives will be conducted for Palmetto House and SPCA. Volunteers will refresh the landscape and re-finish the theater stage at Summerville high School, landscape the County of Dorchester Library, conduct a blood drive with American Red Cross, and more.
