Gallery: Rosebrock Park Opens
Dorchester County's first public park opened Friday.
Richard Rosebrock nearly buzzed with excitement as he welcomed hundreds that gathered at Beech Hill Elementary School on Friday to open the county's first park, which is named after the councilman.
"Excited and humbled," Rosebrock said of the occasion.
Later at the park, Ashley Ridge High School cross-country team members were among the first down the 2.4-mile path, running at a good clip.

The path in the park was cleared by Ashley Ridge High's National Honor Society, hence it being dubbed the Swamp Fox Trail. Teacher Mike Montei and his students were on hand during Friday's event.
At Beech Hill Elementary, Council Chair Larry Hargett was among the dignitaries during the event.

"This is a great occasion for Dorchester County," he said.
The 76-acre park is leased by the county through Dorchester Trust Foundation, which owns 68 acres of the park, and Charleston Water System. Lowcountry Open Land Trust purchased and then transferred the 68 acres to the Dorchester Trust Foundation.
