The Greater Charleston Council of Beta Sigma Phi sorority sisters celebrated a new sorority year with the theme "Light Up Your Life." Beginning day celebration was held at Charleston Korean United Methodist Church, Saturday, August 24, 2013. Laureate Alpha Alpha chapter hosted the event. Beta Sigma Phi is the largest women’s organization of its kind in the world and has grown from just one chapter with seven members to more than 165,000 women who are active in over countries around the world. There are 7 chapters in the tri-county area and Laureate Zeta (pictured) currently has ten members and formed in 2002. All the chapters are looking forward to the upcoming year as they plan their ways & means, service projects and social. Laureate Zeta’s plans for the year include; attending Charleston RiverDogs game, Charleston Christmas Show, hosting “Game Night” with a sister chapter, Laureate Phi, Bowl-a-night, to providing support and donations for the local Eagle Harbor Ranch for boys, donations to Breast Cancer Research and many other interesting and entertaining events both with family members and without. Beta Sigma Phi has grown into an international organization that is proud to call people like Barbara Bush and Hilary Rodham Clinton members. Our sorority sisters devote numerous hours to service so much that there is hardly a charity, health or cultural group in existence today that has not been assisted in some way by Beta Sigma Phi.
