Home Invasion Reported in Indian Springs

Well before dawn Thursday morning, Laura Leigh Barber Smith heard her dog get off the bed and begin growling at her home in Indian Springs off Boone Hill Road. 

As the pregnant mother of three got up and grabbed the dog, her laundry room door was allegedly kicked in by three or four men, who then entered her home. 

According to the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office incident report, the men were armed.

The men then allegedly held a gun to her head, and Smith allegedly told them to take whatever they wanted but to leave the children alone. According to the report, the man detaining Smith said, "Don't worry. Wrong person, wrong house." 

The dog was placed outside by the victim, and she was able to tell her startled children to stay in their rooms.

The men allegedly took a gun safe with weapons and her purse before leaving. After the men left, Smith took her children and ran to a neighbor's house to call 9-1-1. 

No suspects are in custody, according to the sheriff's office.
