Jenkins Voted in as Mayor Pro Tem

In today's special meeting of town council at town hall, councilman Terry Jenkins was voted in as mayor pro tem, edging out his fellow councilman Bob Jackson, who was also nominated, by one vote.

Jenkins was elected this past town election in May and was sworn in June 20.

When Mayor Bill Collins opened the floor to nominations, Walter Bailey nominated Jenkins and Kima Garten-Schmidt nominated Bob Jackson. Both of the nominees seconded their nominations, eliciting some chuckles from the meeting room.

"Our nominees are active," Collins laughed.

Jackson scored votes from himself, Aaron Brown and Garten-Schmidt. Jenkins scored votes from himself, Bill McIntosh, Bailey and Collins.
