Man Arrested for Attempted Murder

Berkeley County deputies arrest Charles Christopher Hill of Summerville after a Tuesday altercation.

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office has arrested and charged Charles Christopher Hill with attempted murder, following an altercation on Ashwood Court in the Sangaree subdivision near Summerville.

The 29-year-old Summerville resident is awaiting bond hearing at Hill-Finklea Detention Center.

Deputies responded about 7 p.m. Tuesday to a reported stabbing in front of 106 Ashwood Court where they found a man with what appeared to be a severe laceration to his face and neck area. The suspect had fled on foot but was apprehended a short time later a few blocks away, according to PIO Dan Moon.

While being taken into custody Hill allegedly became extremely combative, assaulted a deputy and damaged a patrol vehicle, according to Moon.

In addition to the attempted murder charge, Hill is also charged with resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer and damaging county property
