Mayor Myers Recognized by State Representatives

Summerville's three state representatives surprised the town's longterm mayor, Berlin Myers, who stepped down from his position after 39 years this year, during an event in his honor Sunday. 

Presenting a plaque and a reading from the House of Representatives, Rep. Chris Murphy said Myers had "stood at the helm" of the town for four decades. 

Reps. Patsy Knight and Jenny Horne joined Murphy in the presentation.

At the Sunday afternoon event, a crowd gathered in the shade and the air-conditioned building of the town hall. Many elected officials, like former Congressman Henry Brown, and citizens came out to wish the mayor well in his retirement.
