Mom Tips Deputies to Meth Lab

Summerville residents allegedly cooking up dangerous drug in Meadow Run.

Dorchester County deputies responded to the scene of an alleged methamphetamine-producing residence, 102 Jennings Dr. in Meadow Run, Sunday after the resident's mother called to report an alleged assault along with meth production.

Mary Jean Tomey Jarade was arrested by narcotics investigators after she showed deputies a camper used to manufacture the illegal substance, according to the incident report. Another suspect is not in custody.

On Sunday, Eunice Grainger called Dorchester County Sheriff's office to report that her daughter, Jarade, had been assaulted by James Milton Ramsey Jr. Friday at the Meadow Run residence, and that the residence was being used for drug manufacturing.

Deputies called Jarade, who requested they come to her residence to investigate the alleged assault.

According to the incident report, Jarade and Ramsey had an intimate relationship, living together for six years. On Friday, the couple allegedly got into an argument, leading to Jarade making a trip to the hospital the next day for injuries.

At the conclusion of the investigation into the assault, the responding deputy asked Jarade about meth production at the residence. In the incident report, Jarade said the master bedroom used to be used for the drug production, but that the operation was moved to a camper out back.

Ramsey has not been arrested since the report was filed, according to Maj. John Garrison.

As for the second incident in a month with an alleged meth lab in Meadow Run, Garrison said it's just "luck of the draw." He added that some neighborhoods with rental properties where the neighbors "care less" attract drug production.
