New Fire Chief Search Underway
Summerville seeks to replace outgoing Chief Marc Melfi.
More than 70 applicants have applied for the town's fire chief, a position that will be vacant in November when Chief Marc Melfi retires.
During Wednesday's regular meeting of the public safety committee at , Councilman Walter Bailey reported a committee has been formed to determine the best applicants by Oct. 18.
Melfi announced he would retire last month.
