Dorchester County Council met April 2 at its St. George chambers. Here's what they voted on and how they voted:
- Council unanimously voted to approve a resolution in memory of Judge Cranston Pinckney.
- Council unanimously voted to approve a resolution for "Peace Officer's Memorial Day."
- Council unanimously voted to approve mutual aid agreements between Dorchester County Sheriff's Office and North Charleston Police Department, Florence County Sheriff's Office and Summerville Police Department.
- Council voted 5-2, with members Larry Hargett and Richard Rosebrock voting against, to approve the financial plan for Trident Technical College's Nursing and Science Building, with a motion to fund the balance less interest owed. Hargett and Rosebrock voted against the measure since it did not include interest owed.
- Council unanimously voted to approve an application to append coverage for firefighters under the Police Officer's Retirement System.
- Council unanimously voted to approve third and final reading of a rezone for 13.88 acres owned by BayCorp Inc. on Orangeburg Road. The rezone will change the property from suburban residential to single-family residential zoning.
- Council voted 6-0, with Bill Hearn abstaining, to approve water service for a lot in Westcott Commons, Dianne Larry's property in St. George, The Corner at Westcott, and Allen Simmon's property in Summerville.
- Council unanimously voted to condemn Lillian Hunt's property off Highway 78 for road improvements.
