Notes on Votes: Dorchester County Council Feb. 21

Dorchester County Council met Feb. 21 in St. George for its regular meeting. Here are member votes:
- Council members voted 6-0, with Councilman Jay Byars absent, to adopt the proclamation "Irish American Heritage Month"
- After hearing no public comments on repealing prior water and sewer ordinances in order to comply with regulations and laws, council voted unanimously, 7-0, to give second reading to the ordinance, which will supplement the code of ordinanaces with the county. There will be a new schedule of charges and fees.
- Council unanimously voted to give second reading to a supplemental ordinance providing the issuance and sale of Waterorks and Sewer System Revenue Refunding Bonds not exceeding $26 million. This bond will allow the county to refinance some outstanding bonds at a lower interest rate.
- Council unanimously approved second reading for an ordinance authorizing an amendment to the development of Joint County Industrial Park to include property in Orangeburg County for GKN Aerospace South Carolina Inc.
