Dorchester County Council met Feb. 6 for its regular meeting. Here are the votes:
- Council unanimously approved a proclamation making Feb 13-19 John McKissick Week in conjunction with Dorchester County School District Two and the Town of Summerville.
- Council voted 6-0, with Councilman David Chinnis abstaining, to reinstate the sewer and water board, made up of citizen appointments.

- Council unanimosly approved first reading of an ordinance allowing the county to refinance water and sewer bonds at a lower interest rate.
- Council unanimously approved two amendments to the 2012 budget: adjusting to recognize insurance proceeds and adjusting to recognize an EMS grant.
- Council unanimously approved Clemson University County Extension Program Support agreement.
- Council unanimously approved payoff of the 2008 vocational school general obligation bonds. This early payment will save the county more than $61,000 in interest.
- Council unanimously agreed to discuss the Planning, Development and Building Committee's recommendation regarding the MeadWestvaco East Edisto agreement in executive session. No votes were taken after the session adjourned.
- Council unanimously gave first reading to amending an ordinance to include property in Orangeburg County as part of a jont county industrial park.
