Notes on Votes: Sville Finance Committee Feb. 6

Summerville Town Council voted on five items during the finance committee meeting Feb. 6.

  • Council unanimously approved authorization to accept the Assistance to Firefighters grant of $120,000 and to pay the required matching 10 percent.
  • Council unanimously approved authorization to issue a purchase order to Central Industries in the amount of $6,547 for diesel pump replacement to be paid from buildings and grounds repairs and maintenance funds.
  • Council unanimously approved $4,000 from the hospitality tax fund going toward way-finding signs around town. 
  • Council unanimously approved moving forward with engineers to construct "bulb out," or curb extensions, at the intersection of Cedar Street and Richardson Avenue, and also unanimously approved that the estimated $20,000 needed for the project should be funded through the hospitality tax fund. 
  • Council unanimously approved waiving Summerville High tournament fees and only asking for half of gate fees this year only, and returning to the regular fee schedule in 2013.
