
Residents of North Charleston, which includes portions of the Summerville zipcode like Westcott Plantation and other zipcodes that include Deer Park and Northwoods, will vote for mayor Nov. 8.
Ten city council position are also up for grabs.
Mayor Keith Summey is running for re-election and has been the city's mayor for the last 17 years. Charleston County school board member Chris Collins is challenging him.

Mayor Summey said if re-elected, he has plans to upgrade many community centers, athletic facilities and fire stations. He also plans to settle the lawsuit against allowing rail to come through the northern part of the city.

Collins said if he's elected, he plans to improve education in North Charleston, and wants to build a business development center to teach people how to open their own businesses in hopes of stimulating the economy.
Summey's campaign office opens Monday at Tanger Outlet, beside Sake Restaurant. Collins' campaign has not announced an office opening as of yet.
