Restroom Slated for Azalea Park
Town council authorizes purchase of two pre-fab restrooms for Flowertown Festival park and Gahagan Park.
In the park known for the Flowertown Festival, a new fixture will be erected: a public restroom, which is handicap accessible.
Town council unanimously authorized a purchase of $85,218 Wednesday during its regular meeting at Summerville Municipal Complex for two pre-fabricated and portable restrooms, which will go to Azalea and Gahagan parks.
CXT Inc. makes the restrooms, which can be customized with different colors and textures to enhance its aesthetics, according to Parks and Recreation Director Mike Hinson.

In last week's public works committee, council members discussed adding a ramp to to the Cuthbert Center at Azalea Park and modifying the building to allow access to the restrooms. However, Mayor Bill Collins said the ramp would have to be too long for the area.
The funds paying for the restrooms are part of impact fees that must be used by Dec. 31, and were part of the $225,000 originally set aside for .

In addition to the restrooms purchase, the town also purchased a truck and trailer to haul debris from the parks for the tune of $150,000.
