Campaign activity slows to crawl as candidates focus on Iowa and New Hampshire.

As the number of candidates dwindles, we inch closer to the holidays and the first votes draw closer in Iowa and New Hampshire, campaign activity has slowed dramatically in South Carolina.

Several Palmetto State campaign operatives have traveled to the Midwest to be a part of the ground game prepping for the Jan. 3 Iowa caucuses.

While the race in South Carolina remains vital — and currently a two-person race between former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Gov. Mitt Romney — it will take a far backseat for the next few weeks.
