Lincolnville voters elected Leland Shannon back to town council after a six year hiatus — and he has one issue on his mind: taxes, which were raised in the town last month.
The election results were certified on Thursday after provisional, challenge and fail-safe votes were examined. Shannon, Barbara Dease and Charles Duberry won the three seats on council for four-year terms. Dease and Duberry were incumbents.
One seat was left unchallenged by an incumbent. Anna Williams-Gleaton did not run for re-election. Lincolnville Town Council members do not represent districts like in many municipalities, so voters selected three candidates for the three open seats.

But now, he's ready to change "the way town council runs business." He cited the council raising taxes as the catalyst for his desire to get back on council.
On election day, Shannon stood with Mayor Tyrone Aiken in the parking lot of town hall. And that's more than a literal statement. Shannon said that he would stand with the mayor on other town issues.
Aiken, the town's mayor for 10 years, has faced a majority on council that has made getting the books straight difficult, according to Shannon.
The next meeting of council is at 7 p.m. on Dec. 7 at the town hall, 141 W. Broad St.
