After leading his hardworking team to a division championship and into the playoffs, Ashley Ridge varsity football Coach Kenny Walker got some recognition of his own: The S.C. Football Officials Association awarded Walker with the 2011 Sportsmanship Award. "It's a big honor. During football games — it's an emotional sport — you've just got to keep your emotions in check," Walker told Patch. "That (award) means a lot for myself and my staff and the kids ... You're playing within the rules and playing hard." Walker also won the High Schools Sports Report AAAA Rookie Coach of the Year in 2010.
