Summerville High Student Earns $2,000 Scholarship

Samuel Hunter awarded scholarship through North Charleston company.

Samuel Hunter, a recent graduate of Summerville High, has earned a $2,000 scholarship through the Joye Law Firm of North Charleston.

He is one of six area students to receive the college scholarship.

“Given their impressive list of accomplishments, it’s easy to envision this deserving handful of kids as future leaders,” said attorney Ken Harrell, managing partner of Joye Law Firm. “Joye Law Firm is proud of the winners and excited about our investment in the future of South Carolina.”

According to the firm, Samuel earned the money for his "outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements." Soon to attend Clemson University, he plans to use his scholarship to help pursue his major in audio technology with a possible second major in graphic design.

In the six years the scholarship program has been available, the law firm has given away more than $60,000 in scholarships.

With $12,000 up for grabs this year, more than 200 students answered the call for Joye Law Firm’s annual scholarship program. Now, six top graduating seniors from the Lowcountry and Grand Strand areas of South Carolina have more money for their education.
