Summerville Lawmakers Endorse Perry
Dorchester County's Sen. Mike Rose and Rep. Chris Murphy officially endorse Texas Gov. Rick Perry for the GOP presidential nomination.

State Sen. Mike Rose and Rep. Chris Murphy have endorsed Texas Gov. Rick Perry in his Republican presidential bid.
"Rick Perry is a real conservative — exactly what our country needs. We can't afford another four years of the Obama administration and I believe Rick Perry is the man who not only shares our values, but also can win," Murphy said in a statement released by the Perry campaign.
Rose represents the southern half of Dorchester County and Murphy represents the Summerville area of Dorchester County.

Rose had already announced in recent weeks he would have a Perry representative at his fundraiser Oct. 15 celebrating his birthday. Also joining Rose at the event will be Gov. Nikki Haley.
Texas First Lady Anita Perry announced Wednesday that 21 GOP South Carolina General Assembly members' endorsement of Texas Gov. Rick Perry for President at the grand opening event of the Perry Campaign’s S.C. headquarters. The five senators and 16 representatives will serve on Perry’s State Legislative Steering Committee.

Rep. Patsy Knight, Speaker of the House Bobby Harrell Jr. and Rep. Jenny Horne, all of whom represent the Summerville area, have not officially endorsed 2012 candidates.
S.C. Congressman for the area Tim Scott has said he will not endorse until later this year.
