Summerville Man Hauls in Rare Hogfish
Charleston-area newspaper reports fish hauled in by Wes Covington of Summerville likely a state record breaker.

It's a fish, no it's a hog ... No, it just might be a state record breaker!
Wes Covington of Summerville landed a rare 21-pound, 15-ounce hogfish while fishing for grouper Sept. 11.
According to this Post and Courier story, the fish will likely break the 24-year-old state record of 20 pounds, 8 ounces.

According to S.C. Department of Natural Resources, the current record-breaker was caught near Murrells Inlet by a Pawleys Island fisherman.
Other records held by Summerville fishermen include a 5-pound, 10-ounce white grunt, and a 350-pound, 2-ounce sand tiger shark, caught in 1993.

A Ladson fisherman hauled in the state-record gag grouper, which weighed 48-pounds, 8-ounces, in 1997. That same fisherman took another state record in 2002 for a gray snapper weighing 11-pounds, 1-ounce.
