Town Council Meets Today
Summerville town council discusses mayoral powers, rezoning West Richardson Avenue and amending public comments policy.

At the regular meeting 7:30 p.m. tonight at town hall, Summerville town council will introduce four bills and resolutions, two of which will give Mayor Bill Collins administrative duties and abolish the town administrator position.

The introductory bills and resolutions include: first reading of an ordinance to rezone 821 W. Richardson Ave (an action that the planning board and committee recommended denial on; ), first reading of an ordinance to amend public comments policy so that non-citizens wishing to address the council must sign up ahead of the meeting, authorization for the mayor to perform the duties of town administrator and first reading of an ordinance to amend the organizational structure of the town.

A final reading will be held for an ordinance to annex 106 King Charles Circle of Dorchester County, an ordinance to annex 135 Berkeley Circle of Berkeley County and an ordinance to authorize the mayor to execute a quit-claim deed accepting Paradise Point Road from Hidden Palms Homeowners Association and Paradise Lake Horizontal Property Regime.
This will be the first regular meeting since two new members of council and the mayor were sworn in June 20. .
