Town Passes $24.8 Million Budget

No comment from public at Wednesday's meeting.

The Town of Summerville passed its 2012 Budget, which is available attached to this story and runs on a calendar year starting Jan. 1.

No person spoke during Wednesday's public hearing to discuss the budget.

  • Real and personal property taxed at 62.4 mills to "defray" costs in the town operation.
  • Solid waste collection is $8.50 per month for improved properties.
  • Anticipated General Fund income and expenses are $24,814,410.

No fee or millage increases are on tap for 2012. Town employees also will not receive a cost-of-living increase.

However, five new positions will be created in 2012 — including two police officers.
