Town Purchases New Generator

Disaster and Recovery fund used to purchase $70,620 generator for Summerville's Public Safety Building.

The town's Public Safety Building now has a new generator "up and working," according to Mayor Bill Collins.

Collins reported on the $70,620 purchase, made with the  Disaster and Recovery fund, Monday during the town's finance committee meeting. The new generator replaces an old Army surplus generator, Collins said.

"We were trying to beat (Hurricane) Irene's visit here, but we're ready for the next visitor," Collins said.
