Tri-County Named Pilot Site for Community Resilience System
Community and Regional Resilience Institute creates pilot program to assess community disruptions and resiliency.
On the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester region was named a pilot site for the Community Resilience System, a web-based tool that helps communities assess their capacity to withstand significant disturbances and create an approach to recovery.
Dorchester County Chairman and Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments Chairman Larry Hargett and his wife Linda were present for the announcement made by the Community and Regional Resilience Institute during the 9/11 10th Anniversary Summit held at Newseum, Washington, D.C.'s new interactive museum.
“Linda and I were proud to represent the region for the announcement naming South Carolina’s tri-county area as one of seven communities in the nation to pilot this program,” Hargett said in a press release.
