VFW Allegedly 'Betrayed' by Former Quartermaster
Man allegedly embezzles thousands from VFW Post 1261 in Summerville.

In the wake of Dorchester County deputies arresting James Richard Farr for allegedly embezzling thousands from VFW Post 1261, post commander Jesse Goldsmith could only express shock and a sense of betrayal.
Farr is charged with breach of trust greater than $2,000. His bond was set at $10,000.
The incident was reported in early March, and deputies arrested 68-year-old Farr on Friday. According to Goldsmith, the discrepancy in funds was noted in the last meeting of the post.

Farr formerly served as the quartermaster, or treasurer, for the post for many years. He was named as a suspect in the March 8 incident report, which alleges that the embezzlement began a year and a half ago.
The incident report named $10,000-$15,000 missing, but other reports say it's less than $8,000. The current quartermaster, David Packard, noticed the missing funds.
