Video: Wine/Beer Gets OK'd

Unanimously passed Wednesday during the regular meeting of town council, new amendments will allow beer and wine during special events downtown. 

According to town attorney Mark Stokes, prior to the change, any open container was prohibited by law. 

To allow beer and wine, the town will designate a particular location for a set duration as a special events area and the event planner must then apply for a special event permit, which will include information on allowing beer and wine, according to Stokes.

The passage came after a favorable public hearing.
