Wife Shoots Husband During Altercation

Husband remains in hospital; authorities call shooting self defense.

Dorchester County deputies arrested a man Monday afternoon in Twin Lakes after his wife allegedly shot him in the leg. 

Law enforcement is calling the actions wife Alisha Dawn Brown, 31, self defense. 

Christopher Floyd Brown, 33, remains in the hospital after the shooting. He was transported by EMS, treated and then released. On his way to the detention center in St. George, he began bleeding through his dressing and was readmitted to the hospital, according to the incident report. As of Tuesday afternoon, he remained in the hospital, according to Dorchester County Sheriff Public Information Officer Maj. John Garrison.

No charges have been filed since Brown has not been officially booked due to medical care.

He was shot through the left thigh after witnesses say he threatened his estranged wife and children, and beat Alisha Brown with a belt.

According to the incident report, the couple was having a rough spell in their marriage and Christopher Brown had come over the house to have a talk. The talk became heated, according to the report. 

During the altercation, witnesses say Brown took a belt and began hitting his wife, who retreated to the bedroom and grabbed the revolver. According to the report, she pointed and fired the weapon as a warning shot, but Brown would not leave. 

Another shot was fired later through his thigh when Alisha Brown felt threatened again, according to the report. 

In the report, Brown said she did it to protect herself and her children in the residence. The couple's 15-year-old daughter called 9-1-1. Other children in the house were 8 and 14 years old.
