• Third person killed in weekend motorcycle crash in Horry County (myrtlebeachonline.com) — A North Carolina motorcyclist died early Saturday after crashing on Highway 17 Bypass South in Surfside Beach, marking the third motorcycle death in Horry County over the weekend. Surfside Beach Police are investigating, and another separate crash in Loris that evening killed a rider and passenger from Loris, underscoring a deadly stretch for area motorcyclists.
   

• Sea Turtle Season on the Grand Strand Runs Until Halloween MyrtleBeachSC News (myrtlebeachsc.com) — Sea turtle nesting season is still in full swing along the Grand Strand, and Surfside Beach's heavily raked shoreline means many nests there must be moved to nearby Garden City for safety. Local residents can make a big difference through Halloween by turning off beachfront lights, filling in holes, removing chairs and umbrellas, and promptly reporting any unmarked nests or turtles in trouble.
