3. Tropical Grille ordered to pay $618K after labor violations at Upstate locations (wspa.com) — Workers at the Tropical Grille location in Greer are among more than 700 employees statewide receiving back pay after federal investigators found wage, overtime, and child labor violations across the chain. The Greenville-based company has already paid over $618,000 in back wages and faces additional civil penalties, with leadership saying the issues stemmed from a 2024 investigation and have been corrected.
4. South Carolina lacks laws to regulate license plate reader cameras, investigation finds (foxcarolina.com) — Greer is one of several South Carolina communities where officers misused data from automated license plate reader cameras, according to a FOX Carolina investigation. The report explains that, despite firings, the state still has no laws governing how this powerful tracking technology is used, accessed, or how long your vehicle data can be stored.
