Today's riddle: How do billboards talk? 🤔 (Answer below!)
• Dump truck brings down internet cables on busy Greer road, crews say (foxcarolina.com) — Police and firefighters are managing traffic on South Buncombe Road in Greer after a dump truck snagged overhead internet cables Friday morning, possibly damaging a traffic light. Expect delays near the ice cream shop and nearby apartments while Spectrum crews work to fix the lines and restore normal traffic flow.
• El Paso HOME buying spree: $600M in apartments, El Paso to Carolinas (elpasotimes.com) — A Texas-based public housing agency has bought The Lively Victor Park in Greer for over $61 million, converting it into mostly income-restricted apartments and removing it from local property tax rolls. The deal is part of a $600 million multistate buying spree meant to fund more affordable housing in El Paso, raising questions about how Greer's complex will balance reduced rents, market-rate units, and lost tax revenue.
• Nanobubbles: A practical tool for improving wastewater treatment performance (wwdmag.com) — Engineers highlight how nanobubble technology cut chemical use and improved sludge handling at the Maple Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant in Greer, showing a real-world example of cost savings and efficiency gains. The piece explains how nanobubbles can help utilities statewide stretch existing infrastructure, reduce polymer consumption, and stabilize treatment performance without major capital upgrades.
