Today's riddle: What do you call a one-legged Big Foot? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Police shooting, killing knife-wielding man in Fort Mill was justified, prosecutor says (charlotteobserver.com) — York County's top prosecutor has ruled that Deputy Colton Garrett Keasler was justified in fatally shooting a knife‑wielding man in a Fort Mill home in January after the man advanced despite repeated commands. The decision, based on SLED's investigation and body‑camera review, means no criminal charges, and it follows another Fort Mill police shooting this year that was also deemed lawful.
2. Man caught day after Rock Hill police chase. Drugs seized can carry 40-year sentence (heraldonline.com) — A Rock Hill man is jailed in York County without bail after police say he fled a traffic stop, abandoned his car, and left behind 86 grams of suspected fentanyl. Investigators later searched a home with the York County drug unit, seizing more drugs and a gun, leading to 14 charges that could bring a mandatory 25‑ to 40‑year prison sentence if he's convicted.
3. Coroner Identifies Rock Hill Motorcyclist Who Died Following High-Speed Crash (wrhi.com) — A York County deputy's attempted traffic stop preceded a fatal high‑speed motorcycle crash late Sunday near the Rock Hill Aquatics Center, killing 31‑year‑old Kyle Paul Fauls of Rock Hill. Local deputies and EMS tried lifesaving measures, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol and York County Coroner are now investigating, with toxicology results still pending for the single‑vehicle wreck.
4. The I-77 road work snarling Rock Hill, Fort Mill traffic will be redone — and soon (heraldonline.com) — Drivers in York County, especially between Rock Hill and Fort Mill, are facing months of I‑77 backups at Exit 82 now, only to see those patched bridges fully replaced in a $106 million overhaul starting in coming years. York County is contributing millions to the project, which will add new bridges, redesigned ramps, and longer‑term traffic relief after years of construction.
