• York School District One Coordinator Honored at NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet (wrhi.com) — York School District One is celebrating human resources coordinator Mattie Hughes, who just received the Educator Award from the Western York County NAACP for her leadership at Jefferson Elementary. District officials say her work now focuses on recruiting and supporting teachers and staff, and they credit her with continuing to positively impact students and families across York School District One.
• Silfab Solar prepares to start manufacturing solar panels in Fort Mill within weeks (heraldonline.com) — York County residents should know that Silfab Solar plans to restart solar panel manufacturing at its Fort Mill plant as early as mid‑October, after completing state‑required environmental reviews. The move follows chemical leaks, school closures, protests, and close county votes over tax incentives and zoning, with new safety measures now detailed in a public engineering report.
• Fort Mill Climbs To No. 5 In 5A As Rock Hill And South Pointe Slide (wrhi.com) — York County football fans can see how local teams stack up statewide, with Fort Mill climbing to No. 5 in Class 5A while Rock Hill and South Pointe slide after recent losses. Five teams from York and Lancaster counties still sit in the top 10 of their classifications, though none from the area appear in 3A this week.
