Register Now for the 2026 Eastern South Dakota Water Conference (southdakotaagconnection.com) — Brookings will host the 2026 Eastern South Dakota Water Conference on October 7 at McCrory Gardens, bringing together experts and residents to discuss water, growth, and natural resource protection. Locals can register through SDSU Extension, with sessions running 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and fees covering lunch for adults, professionals, and students.

Learn About Tea at Brookings Public Library (brookingsradio.com) — Brookings residents can sip and learn at a free "Tea Time with Tami" program at Brookings Public Library on Thursday, October 8 at 6 p.m. You'll hear tips on brewing the perfect cup and sample several teas, but you'll need to register online starting October 1 to reserve a spot.
3. #SDpreps Monday Scoreboard (9/28) (hubcityradio.com) — Brookings High School's boys golf team topped the ESD Conference meet, edging Brandon Valley and Watertown while posting a solid 303 team score. Brookings golfers Andrew Heinze and Jack Baszler also tied for third individually, capping a strong day for local athletes in a scoreboard that includes golf, volleyball, soccer, and cross country from around the region.
4. Lowest E15 gas price in Brookings County hits $3.94 for week ending Sept. 19 (nesdnews.com) — Drivers in Brookings County recently saw the lowest reported E15 gas price hit $3.94 per gallon at a single station for the week ending September 19. Countywide, E15 averaged $4.01, slightly above the South Dakota average, reflecting broader price pressures from global oil markets and refinery conditions.

Four leaders in agriculture recognized by South Dakota State University (agweek.com) — From its Brookings campus, South Dakota State University has named four longtime advocates as Eminent Leaders in Agriculture, Family and Community, underscoring the city's role at the heart of South Dakota farming. The honorees share roots in SDSU and rural communities, and offer advice on mentoring youth, advocating for agriculture, and building coalitions to solve policy challenges.
