• 'Cats put some wins back on the board (custercountychronicle.com) — Custer Jr./Sr. High School's Wildcat volleyball team battled tough opponents, splitting matches at the Belle Fourche tournament and pushing Spearfish hard at home in the Custer Armory. Coaches highlight strong serving, digs, and steady improvement as the girls head into the Lakota Nation Invitational and then a home rematch against Hot Springs on Oct. 6 in front of Custer fans.
   

• Round 'em up (custercountychronicle.com) — Thousands of spectators packed Custer State Park for the 61st annual Buffalo Roundup, watching staff and volunteers drive about 1,500 bison into the corrals under sunny skies. Visitors from across the country and beyond shared how they planned trips around this Custer County tradition, which culminates in a November auction where roughly 600 animals will be sold for herd management.
