1. Dakota Wesleyan University reports increased enrollment (ksfy.com) — Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell has grown enrollment by 3 percent this year, reaching 917 students. Leaders credit partnerships with the Mitchell School District, expanded nursing programs, and flexible adult and online options that keep more learners studying in Mitchell while also drawing students from across the region.

Mitchell Reminds Residents to Check Sump Pumps and Keep Discharge Out of Sewer System (mitchellnow.com) — Mitchell residents are being urged to check their sump pumps and make sure discharge goes toward the curb, not into floor drains or the sanitary sewer. 4. Upcoming Corn Palace mural makeover comes with quality controls (mitchellrepublic.com) — Mitchell's Corn Palace is gearing up for a new round of murals, with the city council approving a contract aimed at improving installation quality and removing visible white undercoats. Work is scheduled to start in early October and wrap by late November, letting residents and visitors watch the transition from the current "250 Years of America" designs to the 2027 safari theme.
5. Best private high schools in South Dakota (voiceofalexandria.com) — Two Mitchell schools make this statewide list of top private high schools, with Abbott House and Mitchell Christian School both highlighted for their enrollment and student-teacher ratios.
