Artists' Entries Sought For SDHCA Dakota MasterWorks Senior Art Show (yankton.net) — Sioux Falls seniors 60 and older can now prepare entries for the Dakota MasterWorks Art Show, with artwork accepted Oct. 5–9 at the SDHCA office on North Western Avenue. The free public exhibit runs Nov. 5–6 at the Jerstad Center on the Good Samaritan Society National Campus, showcasing local talent in painting, photography, mixed media, and woodworking.
2. SoDak Circuit helping grow the popularity of Esports (dakotanewsnow.com) — Sioux Falls gamers have a free, all-ages esports event right in town today, as the third annual SoDak Circuit takes over the Sioux Falls Convention Center. Competitors and fans from across the region are gathering to play, socialize, and test new tech, with streamlined player profiles helping everyone get into tournaments more quickly.
3. News Watch and DWU again sponsoring state spelling bee (sdnewswatch.org) — Sioux Falls families can start planning now if their schools want in on the 2026–27 South Dakota State Spelling Bee, with enrollment open for elementary, middle, and home schools statewide. Last year's state champion, Oscar Quezada from Challenge Center Elementary in Sioux Falls, reached the second round of nationals, underscoring how far local students can go through this program.
4. Election 2026- Government Justice Lawyers argue over South Dakota's notification letters to voters registered as federal-only (kornradio.com) — A federal judge in Sioux Falls is weighing whether South Dakota's secretary of state misled some voters with letters about their "federal-only" ballot status and failed to explain how they can regain full voting rights. A Sioux Falls resident and the League of Women Voters brought the case, which could force clearer notices and easier ways for affected voters to fix their status before November.
5. Zach Johnson, Jay Jurecic share 36-hole Sanford lead (statenews.net) — Golf fans in Sioux Falls can watch Zach Johnson and Jay Jurecic share the lead heading into today's final round of the Sanford International at Minnehaha Country Club.
