📰 News we're reading

1. Cliff Avenue (Exit 4) Northbound Off-Ramp on Interstate 229 Scheduled to Reopen in Sioux Falls (sd.gov) — Drivers in Sioux Falls should prepare for the northbound off-ramp at Cliff Avenue on I-229 to reopen on September 24, with right turns only until paving finishes in late October or early November. The broader $48 million interchange project keeps other lanes and ramps closed or restricted into November and December, so expect ongoing detours and slower traffic near the area.

2. DTSF closing summer with Riverfest (keloland.com) — Downtown Sioux Falls is closing out summer Saturday with Riverfest at Cherapa Place, featuring vendors, kids' activities, and live fun along the Big Sioux River. Friends of the Big Sioux River will also host a volunteer cleanup that morning, providing supplies and meeting by the Arc of Dreams, giving residents a chance to both celebrate and care for a key local waterway.

3. Lallycooler Music Festival announces it will not return in 2027 (argusleader.com) — Sioux Falls music fans learned that the locally run Lallycooler Music Festival, which brought big-name acts to Great Bear and the Canaries' Birdcage stadium, will not return in 2027. Organizers say tickets already purchased will be refunded within a week, ending a short-lived but ambitious effort to build a large mixed-genre festival in the city.

4. Job Details for Clerk of Court (uscourts.gov) — A high-level Clerk of Court position is open with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of South Dakota, based right in Sioux Falls. The permanent role, paying between $173,513 and $225,569, seeks an experienced administrator and leader, with applications accepted from September 18 through October 19, 2026.

5. Sioux Falls stand-down provides support for homeless vets (dakotanewsnow.com) — Homeless and at-risk veterans in Sioux Falls just received food, clothing, and direct access to medical, legal, mental health, and job counseling services at a stand-down event at the South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance. Organizers say the gathering is meant to be a continuing bridge to long-term stability, showing veterans that the local community truly cares about their well-being.
