• Multiple Blount County golfers heading to State (thedailytimes.com) — Alcoa High School golfers are headed to the TSSAA state tournament after the Lady Tornadoes dominated their region and boys standout Cade Bruce qualified individually with the day's best score. Several Maryville and William Blount golfers also earned individual spots, but Alcoa's repeat trip to state and strong boys finish give local fans plenty to cheer about next week.
• Local emergency relief nonprofit launches as Helene, Gatlinburg anniversaries loom (thedailytimes.com) — A new Blount Strong Relief Network nonprofit is forming partnerships with Alcoa, Maryville, and Blount County officials to coordinate volunteers and aid when disasters strike here at home. The group will work alongside county emergency management, organizing donations, case management, and specialized committees so Alcoa-area residents get faster, better-organized help during future floods, fires, or storms.
• Maine Air National Guard is a finalist to house a new, advanced air refueling wing (wmtw.com) — McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base in Alcoa is one of four finalists to host a new KC-46A air refueling squadron, which would bring advanced tankers to replace older aircraft. While Bangor, Maine is the focus, the Air Force decision expected in 2027 could mean new missions and investment tied directly to the Alcoa-area base.
