📰 News we're reading

• The 10 Safest Cities In Tennessee To Live In 2026 (takingthekids.com) — Brentwood ranks among Tennessee's safest cities for 2026, with crime rates far below both state and national averages and an especially low violent crime rate. The article highlights Brentwood's secure, suburban feel just south of Nashville, strong schools, parks, and higher home prices, while also comparing safety stats and lifestyle in other top Tennessee communities like Nolensville, Fairview, and Maryville.

• U.S. auto buyers face deeper negative equity as longer loans extend debt cycle (tradersunion.com) — A Brentwood Cadillac sales consultant is seeing more local buyers trapped in "negative equity," where they owe more on car loans than their vehicles are worth. Rising prices and longer loan terms are stretching payments over many years, making it harder for Brentwood drivers to trade in without rolling old debt into new loans and extending their financial burden.

• TDOT Reaches Deal for I-24 Southeast Choice Lanes Project (williamsonsource.com) — If you commute from Brentwood toward Nashville or Murfreesboro, a major I-24 project just cleared a key hurdle as TDOT finalized a long-term contract with partner DriveTN for new Choice Lanes. These managed lanes aim to ease chronic congestion between the two cities, with financial close expected in 2027 and public open houses on the proposal planned for November.
