The partnership is part of the Food Bank's Retail Rescue program, which redirects surplus food from local businesses to the shelter's always-busy kitchen.
2. Mayor's Chattanooga Airport board bemoans slow legal challenge to state takeover (timesfreepress.com) — Control of the Chattanooga Airport board remains tangled in a slow-moving legal fight between the city and the state, even as a state-appointed board currently runs airport business. Mayor Tim Kelly's appointees and city-backed board are challenging a new state law in court, raising questions about who should oversee the airport that serves Chattanooga travelers.
3. Chattanooga City Council to vote on Plan Chattanooga Tuesday (local3news.com subscription) — Chattanooga City Council is set to vote this afternoon on Plan Chattanooga, a 20-year guide for how the city grows and develops. The proposal divides Chattanooga into 13 areas, outlines neighborhood-specific goals, and will guide decisions on zoning, infrastructure, and conservation as Hamilton County prepares for tens of thousands of new households and jobs by 2040.
4. Chattanooga 9/11 Stair Climb marks 25 years since attacks with new home at Erlanger Park (newschannel9.com) — Chattanooga first responders and residents will again climb in remembrance at the 12th annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, now moving to Erlanger Park for the 25th anniversary of the attacks. Open to the whole community, the event features firefighters in full gear and a moment of silence honoring those who died on September 11, 2001.
5. Danny Brown (chattanoogan.com) — Longtime Chattanooga radio leader Danny Brown, a resident here for 47 years, has died at 75 after a long battle with vascular dementia. He helped shape several local stations, served on numerous Chattanooga boards, and is remembered for his love of music, community service, and family. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
