Today's riddle: What did the wall say to the other wall. 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. City officials answer questions about partnership to fix sinkhole in Downtown Chattanooga (newschannel9.com) — Repairs on the Cherry Street sinkhole in downtown Chattanooga are largely finished, with city crews now focused on restoring pavers and other aesthetics. Public Works credits a partnership with the Chattanooga Fire Department for saving time and money, but warns pedestrians to stay out of the still-barricaded area while final work wraps up.
2. UTC Students Return For Fall Semester (wdef.com) — Students are back on campus at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, settling into classes, new routines, and a campus dotted with construction projects. This fall also kicks off UTC's 140th anniversary celebrations, including Founder's Week, a major community service challenge, and dozens of community-focused events throughout Chattanooga.
3. No, Chattanooga isn't getting In-N-Out on Signal Mountain Road. Signs were hoax (timesfreepress.com) — If you spotted In-N-Out signs on Signal Mountain Road, developers say they were a prank and the burger chain still has no plans for Chattanooga. Instead, Harry's Wine & Spirits will relocate to the site, with another tenant expected in a new mixed-use development.
4. Ex-cop beat, strangled former girlfriend to death after he chased her down as she screamed 'help,' then wiped blood from her face and claimed it was a drug overdose (knewz.com) — A former Tennessee police officer has been sentenced to life in prison for killing Chattanooga resident Kara Akins at her Carr Street home in 2023, after a jury found him guilty of murder and related charges. Prosecutors relied on Ring camera footage and an autopsy showing strangulation and blunt force trauma, while Akins' family says they're relieved he can no longer harm anyone.
