• Residents have mixed emotions about proposed self-driving buses in Chattanooga (local3news.com) — Chattanooga's CARTA has secured a $25 million federal grant to develop autonomous shuttle buses, with engineering set to begin in 2027 and several years of testing on local roads. Residents are split between safety concerns and excitement about new technology, while CARTA promises onboard staff at first, smart traffic coordination, and a UTC-linked operations center to guide the rollout.
• $75 Million, Overwhelmingly Privately-Funded Tivoli Restoration Nears Reopening (chattanoogan.com) — Chattanooga's historic Tivoli Theatre is set to reopen in October after a $75 million, mostly privately funded restoration that expands it into a four-venue downtown performing arts complex. Foundation leaders expect more than 300,000 annual ticketed visits, tens of millions in local spending, hundreds of jobs, and new year-round activity from Broadway tours, concerts, films, and a new restaurant at 7th and Broad.
• Collegedale residents voice safety concerns ahead of gas regulator station construction (newschannel9.com) — Collegedale residents just outside Chattanooga are raising safety concerns about a new underground gas regulator station that will soon narrow Ooltewah-Ringgold Road to one lane for at least six weeks. Neighbors question why the site is so close to a subdivision and busy road, while Chattanooga Gas has yet to publicly answer detailed questions about location choices and safety measures.
