With more than 4,000 local workers and over a million Atlas vehicles already built here, the new model brings higher power and better efficiency while reinforcing Chattanooga's role in VW's North American strategy.
2. UTC students help Chattanooga nonprofits make sense of their data (utc.edu) — University of Tennessee at Chattanooga students are partnering with local nonprofits to organize and analyze data that many organizations don't have time or staff to handle. Through the DATAA internship program, students help groups like Urban League of Greater Chattanooga, Chattanooga 2.0, and the Hamilton County Department of Education build dashboards and tools that strengthen programs and improve services across the Chattanooga region.
3. Chattanooga church and nonprofit unveil and bless four transitional apartments for youth aging out of foster care (timesfreepress.com) — Just off the UTC campus, Christ Church Episcopal and the Partnership for Families, Children and Adults have opened four newly renovated transitional apartments for young adults aging out of foster care in Chattanooga. The Bright Futures program will pair this housing with life-skills support, aiming to dramatically improve local youths' chances for stable jobs, education, and long-term housing.
4. EPB hosts Chattanooga quantum technology convention as leaders discuss future uses (newschannel9.com) — EPB brought national quantum technology leaders to downtown Chattanooga this week, highlighting how a locally housed quantum computer is already being used and what it could mean for area jobs. Business, education, and government officials discussed how quantum tools might soon support local industries like manufacturing, logistics, and health care, and why Chattanooga's workforce will need new skills to keep pace.
5. US asks D.C. appeals court to reject Chattanooga's bid in airport authority dispute (newschannel9.com) — Chattanooga officials are asking a Washington, D.C. appeals court to compel the FAA to keep recognizing the current Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Authority board while Tennessee's new airport governance law is challenged. Federal lawyers now argue the court lacks jurisdiction and that the FAA isn't required to issue the written assurance the city wants, leaving airport control and local representation in limbo.
