1. Chattanooga city council backs $27 million plan to rebuild, expand former police HQ (newschannel9.com) — Chattanooga is moving ahead with a nearly $27 million rebuild and expansion of the former police headquarters on Amnicola Highway to fix severe, long-term mold problems that have sickened staff. Funded from the city's reserves, the project will reuse the existing foundation, add new space, and keeps the public lobby closed for now while remediation continues.
2. Council Recognizes Domestic Violence Awareness (wdef.com) — Chattanooga City Council has officially proclaimed October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, spotlighting the Family Justice Center's role in helping local survivors. Leaders shared that more than 1,388 domestic violence cases have been reported this year and emphasized coordinated support from police, courts, health providers, and advocates. Residents are encouraged to recognize abuse in all forms and support survivor-focused services.
