Victim identified after fatal crash on Oak Ridge Highway in Knoxville (wate.com) — A Knoxville man, 58-year-old Michael Gann, has been identified as the victim in a fatal rollover crash on Oak Ridge Highway, where investigators say another driver failed to yield while turning onto Harrell Road. Tennessee Highway Patrol reports charges against the other driver are pending as the investigation continues.
2. 70-Year-Old Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck on Kingston Pike (wivk.com) — A 70-year-old man died after being struck by a Toyota SUV while crossing Kingston Pike in West Knoxville Friday night, according to Knoxville Police. Investigators say the pedestrian stepped into the eastbound vehicle's path, and KPD's crash reconstruction team is still working to determine exactly what led to the fatal collision.
3. Dolly Parton Children's Hospital CEO Says Mission Remains Unchanged Following Parton's Death (wivk.com) — Dolly Parton Children's Hospital leaders in Knoxville say their mission and day-to-day care for local kids will stay steady despite Parton's death, even as they mourn her loss. CEO Matt Schaefer says plans to expand specialized pediatric services beyond Knoxville and Knox County remain on track, aiming to build on Parton's legacy for families across East Tennessee.
4. Downtown Knoxville to Host Dolly Parton Tribute Parade (wivk.com) — A memorial parade for Dolly Parton is set for Friday, Sept. 4, winding from the City County Building through downtown Knoxville to Market Square. Residents are invited to join the colorful procession, featuring a giant "Big Dolly" puppet and local performers, to celebrate her music, philanthropy, and deep East Tennessee roots.
