Prosecutors say the case reflects local efforts to crack down on repeat offenders and fentanyl-related trafficking affecting Knoxville neighborhoods.

2. Knoxville Awarded $1.15 Million for Riverfront, Park and Trail Improvements (wivk.com) β Knoxville is getting more than $1.14 million in state funding to upgrade Gov. Ned McWherter, Suttree Landing, and Holston River parks with new river access, adaptive trails, and cycling features. The projects will expand kayaking, boating, and biking options, improve accessibility for people with disabilities, and better connect neighborhoods to the Tennessee River and the city's greenway network.

Knoxville Smokies collapse, giving up 10-run inning in loss to Lookouts (knoxnews.com) β Knoxville Smokies fans saw a rough night as the team blew a 3-0 lead and surrendered a 10-run seventh inning in a 13-3 loss to the Chattanooga Lookouts at Covenant Health Park. Still, with a playoff spot already clinched and more home-game promotions coming in this final series, there's plenty of meaningful baseball left in Knoxville this month.

Knoxville artist makes monthly maps to guide First Friday art lovers (wbir.com) β Knoxville's First Friday art walks now come with whimsical, hand-drawn maps created monthly by local artist Lauren Farkas to guide you through downtown galleries. After three-and-a-half years, her evolving map series has become artwork itself, celebrating Knoxville's collaborative art community and helping newcomers and regulars alike plug into the city's creative "flock" each month.
