See 'celebrities' and other dazzling attendees at the Urban League gala (knoxnews.com) — Knoxville residents packed the Press Room on Oct. 8 for the Knoxville Area Urban League's Equal Opportunity Awards Gala, celebrating a year of "listening, learning, rebuilding and moving forward." Guests arrived dressed as famous figures, local businesses and volunteers were honored, and East Knoxville groups like the Lions Club and Five Points Up received special recognition for their community work.
   

2. East Tennessee AMR crews in Florida as Hurricane Isaias nears landfall (wvlt.tv) — Knoxville-based American Medical Response crews are in Florida helping evacuate hospitals and care facilities as Hurricane Isaias approaches, while a Knoxville family cut their fall break trip short to return home. Local EMS leaders describe balancing employee safety with the urgent need to move vulnerable patients out of the storm's path, and say East Tennessee teams will remain deployed through landfall.
   

3. WRC Is Finally Coming Back To America In 2027 (carscoops.com) — World-class rally racing is officially headed to Knoxville in August 2027, with the new Rally US event based around the city and stages stretching into Kentucky. Organizers say full details on host sites, tickets, and fan activities will be revealed Oct. 27, giving Knoxville motorsports fans time to plan for a rare chance to see WRC action close to home.
   

4. Landon Lightfoot's 5 TDs highlights Knoxville area's TSSAA football top performers (knoxnews.com) — Knoxville-area high school football fans can relive Week 8 through standout performances, led by Austin-East quarterback Landon Lightfoot's five-touchdown night. Players from Austin-East, Grace Christian, Jellico, Kingston, Rockwood, Sevier County, Sweetwater and others are highlighted, giving local families and fans a quick way to see which hometown athletes made the biggest impact.
